Souq Madinat Jumeirah, one of Dubai’s most attractive tourist destinations, had a renovation in 2020.

The new design’s target was to express the full spatial capability, allowing visitors to appreciate the details within the beam arrangements and to add accents to the new artworks and banners creating various levels of interest within the space.

In coordination with the lighting designer, IPS placed warm hue spotlights concealed within the eaves, where the warm light tones compliment the warm tones of the maple wood. The eave structure is now apparent at night and the physical space is now fully appreciated.

IPS was in charge of the installation of lighting fixtures and controls in this simple but impressive transformation.

Joe's Backyard

Located on the 19th floor of the Holiday Inn Dubai Festival City, Joe’s Backyard boasts spectacular views over the Dubai skyline and the Burj Khalifa.

The restaurant’s glass windows and spacious terrace are what make this place so inviting and enjoyable. However, reflective surfaces and natural light, in contrast with interior lighting, are one of lighting’s greatest challenges. IPS was involved in this project since its inception, being able to work in coordination with the lighting and interior designers to ensure the installation and setting was done as per the design brief. With views all around the restaurant, a key aspect of the installation was to correctly conceal light sources to not obstruct any vista points with light intensity.

The main challenge of lighting landscape sculpture is the correct installation of fittings and to correctly regulate the intensity and direction of light.
